| Why do we need work-study students from America's
universities to teach eight-year-olds to read? Doesn't the National Education Assocation tell us that even adult parents aren't qualified to teach their own children at home; that education should be left to professional educators? Aren't these illiterate eight-year-olds going to public schools where they're being taught by card-carrying NEA-member professional teachers? So isn't this new literacy program a slap in the face to America's NEA-member teachers? NEA: You can't have it both ways. Either the guy you paid to put in office has unexplainedly turned against you, or you're not doing your job and even your strongest ally can't deny it. Wait 'til they find out that those college students that graduated from your high schools can't read either. |
