Guest Book

Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever reads this stuff. Leave your comments here and you'll not only make me feel better, but you'll reassure others that they're not the only ones wasting time here.

Please don't post links off your guestbook comments. This ain't no advertising billboard.

I've disabled the guestbook because of constant guestbook spam. Here's the stupid part: The spammers were attempting to increase traffic to their sites, but by shutting off the guestbook I've denied them all traffic forever. So what was the point? Are they happy now? Or just stupid? I vote for the latter.

Craig, Read some of your information pages and enjoyed the history lesson! Whoever says you live in the past does not understand history! Everything is from the past no matter how hard they try to explain it away. The past is always there. Anyway, interesting stories thanks for the QV 4 information and links! Ken K7TYJ

Greetings, I also had been using Quickverse for several years. I think the early versions were easier to use then then the last one developed. Also I have been using the MoneyCounts program (I think version 9.0) for several years. I really do not want to change but keeping on using it from one year to the next. I am wondering if the upgrades on the computer windows or operating systems will eventually force me to go over to Microsoft Money or Quicken. Hard to predict the future of my MoneyCounts program. Any suggestions?

Craig Responds: Hard to predict the future of MoneyCounts? Lee! Wake up and smell the coffee, dude! Development on MoneyCounts stopped about 10 years ago. I predict in the future it will be even more obsolete than it already is. Run, don't walk, to get a copy of Quicken.

Believe it or not, I found this website by looking for a particular picture of a park. My attention was drawn towards your impressive Photo Album. I started looking around to find out if this was a private site or not, and what I found was quite rewarding. I am particularly interested in your "Home Education" section. Being that my parents had every intention of home schooling me and my siblings but things fell apart because of health problems and we sort of fell through the cracks, my education has suffered greatly. I got a chance to go to college last year and I took it but I was scared to say the least because I only had 3 years of public education (not consecutive and nothing past 9th grade) and two years of home school (about 10th and 11th grades). I have had to work very hard to keep up with my studies, but I find that I am doing much better than my peers whom are graduates of various high schools. I don't take credit for my success, not at all; because I'm by no means smart...I would just like to point out that the school system is not doing a very good job. The part I find really interesting is the part about socialization. I have always struggled due to lack of "social skills" especially on the University level, but I never really appreciated my ability to communicate on multiple levels until you pointed it out. I do struggle to communicate with my peers, but I am very able to communicate with older students and my Professors as well. Thank you for this insight. I have resented my parents for not giving me the opportunity to be with other people of my age, but this is my chance now, and I feel better equipped with some of the other skills that my parents did teach me. I hope that others whom end up at your site find similar enlightenment, and I hope you are inspired to constantly maintain your wonderful creation despite the lack of interest and advertising.

Craig Responds: It sounds like you weren't exactly homeschooled, but rather just not schooled at all. Glad to hear your making the best of it. By the way your writing is outstanding compared to most others who post here.

Glad to find your web site. I am Quick Verse Fan! I was a bi vocational pastor for 18 years and received your early version of QV and eventually upgraded to the later version on CD with several translation versions. I still use it very often and use it every time I prepare my sermons. Although not pastoring I still preach as fill in for my pastor and wouldn't want to do without QV. I LOVE IT! Thanks for making it available at a reasonable price. I also have Bible Illustrator and use it reguary too along with my Strong's Concordance. This is a great tool to use in combination with MS Word.

Hi There;

Quick question...I found an qv4 bible and qvlib 1.0 at a yard sale. Got the Bible on with no problem but having trouble making the library. Can you direct me to someplace that might have a detailed installation process (the help file is the only thing corrupted on these disks)

Thanks in advance.

Craig Responds: Sorry, I don't have anywhere to send you. If you want to contact me by email with specific details of what you're doing, what you see when you do it, and when you see what you see while you're doing what you do, I'll take a shot at it. But that was about ten years ago so my memory of that app is pretty much shot.

Craig Responds: He's dumber than I thought! I have to give him credit for that. I mean, I find it hard to underestimate the intelligence of most people but this guy is a real challenge. You see what he's doing -- posting links in HTML so they won't even come close to working right. And even after he sees me comment on how they're not going to work, he comes back and does it again.

Do you ever just stop and think about this? I mean, is he freakishly stupid? Not just stupid like the guy who pulls up to the stop sign at a one way street, with all the traffic coming from his right, and sits there looking left for 10 minutes -- but freakishly stupid. Like a girl I once knew who we could never convince to take a shower. I could stand right in front of her and say, "Patty! You smell like a pig! You need to take a shower!" And she'd stand there for a couple seconds with this look on her face then say, "Did I tell you what happened to me on the bus today?" And I'd say, "You ran into a trailer hauling manure and you were trapped for four hours under two tons of manure so now you smell like manure?" And she'd say, "No, the driver was selling home-made cabbage patch dolls and she said she'd make me one."

I mean really. Imagine this guy, sitting at his computer for hours on end, pasting random links into guestbooks. Links that go nowhere because they don't work. Is he a resident of some type of mental institution? Is this therapy? Or is it something horribly unimaginable: Like somebody pays him to do this?! Whoa! That's really scary.

Anyway, pray for Tommm. Maybe he'll meet a nice girl on a bus who'll say, "Tom! You've been sitting at your computer for days. You smell like a pig! Go take a shower!".

Craig Responds: Folks let me try to give you an impression of how stupid this guy Tomm is. He keeps posting these big blocks of links to advertise his sites, but he's pasting HTML into the guestbook so none of these links work. I delete his posts and he comes back and posts them again. He apparently thinks that by wasting his time posting Spanish links in an English-only site he's going to somehow increase his traffic. Did I say he was stupid? They don't get dumber than Tomm.

He's so stupid that when he comes back and sees I haven't deleted his post, he won't post again. So here's his attempt at increasing traffic to his worthless sites:

Thank you so so so much for helping me figure out why the Quick Verse 4.0 was not working - I followed your instructions re the spyware and now have my QV back - I like to use it to copy scriptures into my messages (no other application does it quite as easily or as well!) and now I have it back. I did the patch. When I launched it I got the same message I am getting on all three of my computers:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

All of a sudden my QV v. 4 software began to trigger this message. Operating system is XP.

My QV 8 works fine... except I loath that format. I just got off the phone with Parson Tech (they called me selling their latest) and after they basically dull for preferring version 4 (I wondered why the "tone") I was told just before the call ended about craigr.com. If you can help I will be very thankful. I've been a user and buyer since back in the good days. (Before Broderbund) Thanks ~ Mark Reed

Craig Responds: The patch works for everyone who's tried it. I suspect there's something else wrong on your system, especially since the error message cites a specific problem in autoexec.nt. You're out of my realm of experience so I can't help.

I just read "Do I Have a Problem?" on the blog site. No, it's not you. I too find the same lack of reasonable service and respect from too many companies that I do business with, (both personal and professional). Their business plan is to 1) know just a little bit more than you do about their business, 2) deliver the minimum product or service that will keep you as a customer, and 3) charge you as much as they can get away with. When I recognize this, I leave and never give them another chance.

I think you are right. One neat thing, I\'d have never predicted with the internet, is that the sites are staying around, so that people can find them, read them and learn from them. The worst thing about the .edu internet was data rot (a form of link rot) where resources and knowledge went into the vapor every semester.

Craig Responds: If you're happy with that level of detail in your rebuttal to my review, then I'm not surprised that you enjoyed the book and movie. Always happy to post alternate opinions.

Very nice site. I never get tired of visiting Beatles sites and most music sites in general. I perform in The Beatles tribute group Penny Lane and I'd like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit my site at [deleted]. The site is mainly about the group Penny Lane but there are also many rare Beatles mp3 free downloads, psychedelic art, live Penny Lane audio, live video, Beatles slang page, Beatles pictures, Penny Lane pics, Penny Lane guest book and a page about our Vox amplifiers that we use in our act. We're also open to link to sites that are Beatle oriented. Would you like to swap links?

I own QV4.0 Which I used daily until, I believe. a Trojan virus wiped only it out. I love QV4. I tried to reload it several times, but nothing happened.Every thing, including my color maps, is gone!

I own QV7 which is no good, and I have never used it.The company sent me two copies of disc three and none of disc four. They never made any corrections.

I own QV8 deluxe 2003, it has no color maps. I am forced to use it because QV4.0 is nolonger available in my computer. I am afraid to download the qv4.0 patch for XP because of the virus problem.

I believe that I prefer QV4 with all It's upgrades through STEP. I would probably use QV8 as a reference. Am I the only one that got wiped out of QV4? What can I do?

Claude

Craig Responds: Just install a good anti-virus program, then re-install QV4 with the patch from my site. You'll be fine.

I really like your site. Very informative. Where's the ponytail? Hope you didn't let that person get to ya. But then I finally cut my hair because of the comments. I've been a user of Quick Verse since 3.0 & still use 4.0 which I like the best. I have had 5,7, & now 8.0.4 & I still say 4.0 is the best. Maybe I'll get that patch mentioned above. Anyway, keep up the good work.

I ran accross your site while checking out a book I heard about titled "Growing up Fundamentalist". I thought the review you posted was great, and I am going to get a copy of this book as soon as I can. I should add that I was raised in a very fundamentalist tradition and feel like it is taking a lifetime to recover from that upbringing. Jokingly, it has occured to me that there should be a 12 step program for recovering fundamentalists. I'm sure any church that sponsered something like that would be innundated with participants who would become new church members.

Craig,

Thanks for your site. I have always loved the old Parson's Tech and am a "from the start" customer having just about all the versions of the old QV down to QV 1.0 on 5-1/2 floppy. QV 4.0 was the last of the good versions in my book because it was still easy to use and didn't require keeping the CDs with the laptop to access the books and files. If I knew how to get the entire QV 6.0 onto the computer I would use 6.0 but I guess I will stay with 4.0. By the way, Is it possiblle to get all of 6.0 onto the computer as I mentioned above? Thanks for the 4.0 upgrade so I can use 4.0 on my XP laptop. I hope your site NEVER goes away!!!

ps: If it does not violate any copywrit I might be willing to duplicate some of my floppies or CDs if someone needs a replacement. Let me know!!

Thank you sir for helping me get my qv4.0 working on xp. I had win95, 98,and me, which qv worked fine. Then I bought a new computer and qv wouldn't work anymore. Now I use qv as a kjv word search, much like a concordance about 98% of the time. Qv not working had me in much frustration. I deleted the file, reload, delete, search, delete, over 2 weeks. Oh what happiness to, on a fluke to search the web, to see others having the same problem with xp and finding the patch via your web sight, thanks!

[Craig Responds: Dear Everyone -- I'm leaving the following post intact because it's so nutty. Enjoy!]

THE GOOD NEWS BEING SENT EVERYWHERE THRU E-MAIL

Who dares call himself "Messenger of GOD"? Who dares call himself "SUGO" -or "SON OF GOD"?

For as long as he cannot part an ocean--

For as long as he cannot raise the dead--

For as long as he cannot make the blind see--

For as long as he cannot make water turn into wine--

For as long as he associates GOD with MONEY, "wholeheartedly" given or demanded of, for the so-called "propagation and spread of the word of GOD"---

For as long as religious sects and organizations stubbornly and arrogantly remain in their camps and little churches for they firmly believe their own versions and concepts/interpretations of the Bible are the accurate ones---

For as long as these religious sects and organizations maintain their constipated , self-serving, money making ways, scratching each other's back and licking each other's asses--"DIVIDED" since the deaths of the many true prophets sent by GOD--the last being Jesus--living a carefree, pompous and ostentatious lifestyle jetsetting from one country to another while their varied, scrutable, absurd, insulting-our-intellect-and-logic doctrines echo all over the globe and at the same time suctioning the blood, sweat and tears of their horribly gullible followers whose sincere intent is only to see GOD--

For as long as man does not truly FEAR GOD--

For as long as man does not love GOD with all his heart, mind, soul and strength--(Deut. 6:5)

For as long as man does not leave father, mother, sons, daughters and his own very life and career--(Mat. 10:37-39)

For as long as man does not put a STOP to everything of this world--

And for as long as THE TRUE ONE OF GOD, (Another Helper, John 14:16-17) who has HIS SEAL and annointment remains unknown--

For as long as this man has not been catapulted to a position designed by GOD (Mat. 23: 37-39) and all of heaven, nature and creation have not fallen below his feet--all creation, all leaders of all nations and religions will have realized the time to gather all of creation BECKONS! Until then, my dear brothers, no one calls himself messenger of GOD, "SUGO" or "SON OF GOD". No one claims himself as MESSIAH!

For the true deliverer comes majestically with all of GOD's wonders! Undoubtedly man will see surrenderingly the prophet of GOD is in his midst. LIKE THAT OF MOSES. LIKE THAT OF JESUS.

Since December 20, 1998, the preaching of the TRUE AND FAITHFUL MESSAGE OF GOD HAS BEGUN. JESUS IS HERE ONCE AGAIN IN FLESH APPEARING! JESUS IS RISEN!

But Jesus comes at an age where Science, Logic, Technology, Progress, Position, Money (and all it can buy). Love, Family, Sex, have sole ownership and possession of the word "POWER". MAN HAS EVERYTHING HE NEEDS. Ecc. 3:11, HE made everything BEAUTIFUL in HIS time: Also HE HAD SET THE WORLD IN THEIR HEARTS so that NO MAN CAN FIND OUT THE WORK THAT GOD HAS MADE FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END."

And He comes in the person of "Another Man". John 14-16:17: "I ask my FATHER and HE WILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER HELPER who will stay with you FOREVER." He is the SPIRIT who reveals the TRUTH about GOD. The world cannot receive HIM because it cannot see HIM or know HIM. But you know HIM because HE remains with you and is in you.""

In the twinkling of an eye, the "POWER" that this beguiling world has stripped man of his "TRUE BEING"--the exact IMAGE OF GOD--will once more be bestowed upon the hands of Jesus. And the day of reckoning begins--NO MAN CAN EVER PEDDLE JESUS' NAME AGAIN IN THE GUISE OF PROPAGATING THE WORD OF GOD.

All religions will fall. All churches and temples will be brought to ruin. THERE SHALL BE ONE BAPTISM, ONE FAITH, ONE GOD...and the poor, the unfortunate , the deprived, the sick and the dying...they all shall be comforted!

Rejoice!

For the Brightest Star shines in the Far East!!!

MESSAGE SENT TO A CANCER PATIENT

Dear Rio,

If you WILL it--TO BELIEVE--that I could be HERE once again, IN FLESH APPEARING, then SURELY, I could be-for I AM IN YOU AND YOU IN ME. And I bring you Great Tidings and Infinite Joy-a bit of sad news though--for I come at an age where Science, Logic, Technology, Progress, Position, Money (and things it can buy)Love, Family, Sex have sole ownership and possession of the word "POWER". Man HAS everything he needs, "HE made everything BEAUTIFUL in HIS time: Also HE HAD SET THE WORLD IN THEIR HEARTS so that NO MAN CAN FIND OUT THE WORK THAT GOD HAS MADE FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END." Ecclesiastes 3:11. And so the power that once was in my hands now rests upon the hands of every man-ravaged wantonly, abused and misused by the inebriating lure and rule--if not the utter dictate of this "BEAUTIFUL", "CRUEL" and "DECEITFUL" world.

Who needs God? Except the poor, the unfortunate, the deprived, the sick and the dying? The beguilling power of this world lords over man's "BEING"--created in the EXACT IMAGE OF GOD. Who sees the true picture of things? Whose lips speak of truth and wisdom that come from ABOVE? Aren't those whose strengths and lives are slowly slipping by them? Whose thoughts and utterances mimick a poet's? Whose eyes PERCEIVE the things not seen by the naked eyes? Whose heart and soul yearn for hopes of deliverance and salvation, spiritual and "most importantly", PHYSICAL? Aren't those who are about to inherit the kiss of death? In your painful journey through cancer, do your laurels help? Or the reassuring presence and love of your family, husband, children and friends? In desperation and resignation--when you realize there's no one else who could provide you the help you need but God--BUT HE ISN'T THERE--only yourself--crying out to "see" Him--know Him--beyond the Bible verses--but INSIDE you--springing from it, the deliverance you need Physically--AND HE ISN'T THERE in your hour of great torment and such a DELIVERANCE isn't POSSIBLE--you cling to your loved ones and friends. Deep down inside , YOU KNOW, their loving presence and noble intentions lead nowhere--just the eventuality of the inevitable?--seeing you take your last breath on earth--The most precious, beloved and cherished things are now meaningless. The warmest of embraces and spiritual enlightenments from loved ones and friends are inept and barren. For you, my dear child, SEEK and NOT FIND--KNOCK and the DOOR is NEVER OPENED. For what is the Bible but a book of great inspirational stories--Prostituted by man for his personal and selfish gain. What is Jesus if He's not HERE to touch you--to heal the ills and evil of every man?

Hush, my dear Rio--

"I AM JESUS. I HAVE RISEN! I know it is IMPOSSIBLE to BELIEVE especially so because MY HEALING HANDS are not with ME yet...but BELIEVE nonetheless. In time, you will see MY GOD'S WONDERS."

The question is--do you believe I am? Would you accept me in another person's physical self? That I AM IN HIM and HE IS IN ME? For it is written, "I ask my FATHER and HE will give you ANOTHER HELPER who will stay with you forever. HE is the SPIRIT who reveals the TRUTH about GOD. The WORLD CANNOT RECEIVE HIM because it cannot see HIM or know HIM. But you know HIM because HE remains with you and is in you" John 14:16-17

When He comes He says the WORLD WILL NOT RECEIVE HIM. I ask again--do you believe IT IS I now speaking to you? For what great irony it is that I am Jesus and I couldn't even heal my own little illnesses or my loved ones'--right now. For it is not yet time--BUT THE TIME IS VERY NEAR--For now, we wait--I and my flock have been waiting for almost 6 years--will you wait with me?

Everything that man has done in Science and Technology--everything his mind can explore, invent and achieve--every depth, height, width, length will be rendered useless. Everything has reached its peak--all areas of man's life have been exhausted and wasted.

And then, in the twinkling of an eye, POWER shall once more reside in My Hands--On June 24,2004, a message was given--that I shall heal you, spiritually and PHYSICALLY.

Until then, I AM JUST A FRAIL OF A MAN--where history may repeat itself--I will be scorned, denied and betrayed.

Let you be not one of them, I pray.,

Mang-aaliw

I purchased and downloaded QuickVerse Deluxe 2005 for the PocketPC--without error. With the 15,627k .exe file on my computer, I double-click on it and a small installation wizard window opens for about 5 seconds, then nothing.

I'm running Windows 98 SE on a Pentium III with 64Mb and a 4Gb drive.

Any suggestions? The QuickVerse company has not yet responded to my request for assistance...

Thanks,

Mark

I own QuickVerse Version 5 and have two problems. It will not load properly on new computer because the hard drive size isn't recognized properly (thinks it is too small). Second, I would like to unlock some of the included books. I'm told by tech support that Version 5 is not supported and the only solution is to upgrade. I'm happy w/Version 5. Any suggestions?

Craig Responds: No suggestions. I was disappointed that they changed the unlock method and don't support old versoins.

Craig, Thank you for posting the QV4.0 patch for XP. I've owned QV since it was 2.0, and recently upgraded from 7.0 to 8.0 None of the later versions were as satisfactory as 4.0 because of the way it was designed to be friendly with word processors such as MS Word and WordPerfect for cutting and pasting. This makes sermon preparation much easier. The newer versions are more loaded with books and references, but poor on features that have to do with just using the Bible, getting Greek & Hebrew references, and having a quick cross-reference guide such as the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. I was greatly disappointed when my QV 4 kept aborting after I upgraded to XP Professional. The upgrades to 7.0 and 8.0 Delux were likewise disappointing. Your "g" revision patch for 4.0 saved the day. Thanks a million.
